Doing MAC treatment-- night sweat

I have been doing the 3 drug regime for MAC. I haven't had a night sweat since I started the 3 drugs... almost 3 months. Last night I woke up in the middle of the night with my chest and neck soaking wet. I felt sweaty but not super warm.

What does this mean?? Is the MAC drugs not working or can I expect a random night sweat while on the treatment?? I was hoping to be done with the IV antibiotics on Wednesday. Should I prepare myself to continue the IV drug?? I have been feeling great on the medication-- increased energy, pretty much no cough, and gained back the weight that I lost. The only change is having a rough time sleeping with PiCC and a snoring husband so I have been more tired during the day... and have been doing more activities during the day than normal.

This night sweat has me all discouraged. Should I be??? Have I pushed myself a little bit too hard and body is reacting??

I am currently on for treatment of MAC also,- I am on 8 months and going strong, but it has been hard.

I have taken oral drugs only at this time, but if my cultures keep coming back clean, I might be free from IVs.

3 months is way WAY to short for MAC treatment, You should be seeing a specialist a.k.a.- Infectious Disease, or if its just your CF doctor treating you -you will be expected to be on them for at LEAST a year if not more sometimes even as long as 2-3 years is not uncommon, and either doctor should know that.

With only 3 months of treatment,- I would not get discouraged -an odd/ weird night sweat I would say can be expected, because you haven't been on the drugs long enough. If you get low grade fevers again or the night sweats get really bad, -talk to your doctor right away- if can be the drugs doing it or the MAC doing it.

My symptoms didn't clear up right away,- and I only just felt better 6 month in-only 2 months ago !! This bacteria is very hardy and extremely SLOW-SLLOO -W growing, so super old ones die and new ones 'hatch', until they are outnumbered and poisoned by the drugs.

Keep taking the drugs/ ivs and take them on time to keep them in your system at all times as they will work !

I would also advise you to get as much rest as you can and slow down, and boot the husband to the living room :D

If you got anymore questions, hit me up,.. (IV)

Let me clarify something... I am schedule to do the oral drugs for 12-18 months to start out. I am doing IV amikacin for 3 months and then be moved to inhaled Amikacin.

I suffer from insomnia and when I do sleep it is very light. I am on oxygen to help my sleep issues. We do need to something about our dog who likes to "party" in the middle of the night. I might have to sleep again in the guest room. I just hate sleeping separate from my husband. :(

I started feeling better on the drugs two days into the process. I have very little side effects from the drugs.

I am being treated by National Jewish for my MAC. I guarantee they know what they are doing.

I just didn't expect to get the night sweats back... especially since they had stopped.
