Dr. says daughter has CF

Hi, I have a 10 month old, her name is Gwenyth. A few weeks ago we went to her check-up and the Pedi. was worried because she barely grew a pinch on her chart since her last check-up. We went last Wed. to do a sweat test and the Pedi. called me this morning and told me it was positive for CF.
Is there a possibility she still may not have it even though it was possitive?

I know your head is probably reeling right now. I've been there, and it sucks. From what I understand about sweat tests, there is very little that could cause a false positive. There are a few other conditions that might cause an elevated sweat result, but if they told you it was positive, I'm guessing it was high out of the range of that possibility. Many borderline sweats 40-60 can be explained with things other than CF, but I'm not sure if a true positive 60+ can be anything else.

Hang in there as you learn this new world. There is a lot to learn and may seem very overwhelming at first, but it will get easier.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I dont have any doubt in my mind that she has it, but I was just reading around and saw that some people had gotten a positive but then didnt have it, so I was just wondering.
I also have another daughter who did get tested a few months ago because she had an incident with her intestine coming out. The test came back negative for CF, but they want to test her again to make sure.
