Dreams & Cf

Hey Kelly
Do you notice if the dreams happen more often at times when you are sick? or sicker than usual? If so it maybe a CF stress related thing - your description of an intruder trying to kill you and you running around collecting weapons to kill it made me think of CF (as the intruder) and meds and treatments (as the weapons). I know kind of silly but hey who knows.

I have always had bad dreams also. I used to dream alot of being chased constantly or being kidnapped when I was little. I would dream of someone grabbing me at a store and I would be fighting and trying to scream but nothing would come out of my mouth. I also have bizarre nightmares about murders at times or someone trying to kill me or like I am watching a crime show take place in my dream it is bizarre.

I also get your basic nightmare type dreams where just plain old unpleasant things happen not so much gory scary stuff.

Who knows I have the most bizarre dreams when I am sick or struggling health wise and I tend to have the most vivid dreams when I am on my period - right towards the end of it and the week after it.

I also find that sometimes if I wake up from a dream and don't stay awake for a few minutes I fall right back into the nightmare. I will wake up scared and if I am really tired and fall back asleep immediately I fall right back into the dream where I woke up at - like I just hit pause ... I have to stay awake for at least a few minutes before I doze back off to prevent that.

Take Care,
Lindsey

Interesting. It's possible. I get the dreams either way, when I'm sick and not.

I wonder what bad dreams do for us. Is it good for us, releasing something in us, or is it just a side effect of being alive?

I don't have nightmares much, and when I do I can usually wake up before they get too bad. I have a lot of strange dreams though. The ones where I wake up going "What the f*** was that????"

I find that I only have deep, intricate dreams when I'm dead tired,
and for that reason usually the worst ones are when I'm ill.
Most of the times the dreams are just outright silly, but
when I do have bad dreams, they are usually gory or involve someone
trying to do me harm. But I think I must have an inner serial
killer or something, because most of time I'm the one that
"wins"...only one time that I can remember have I ever
died in a dream.

A little OT, but a long the same lines, I used to take an art class
in high school, and my main source of inspiration were vampires,
demons, anything horror-related. One day my art teacher
looked at my work and told me that people with terminal illnesses
are scientifically proven to more likely think of (or have a
fascination with) blood and/or disturbing images. Perhaps
these are subconscious thoughts that manifest in the dream state?

Do you guys think that all these dreams (that so many of us seem to have) is in part b/c of the cf and worries that come with it? I've often wondered but always felt it would be such a stretch to connect. Now I'm wondering. I've never heard of other people with so many bad dreams, especially Lilith with the whole dying in the dream thing. I've had that too, it was crazy - feeling the sense of dying and starting to drift away etc. I've had that, and not many people get to that part in a bad dream. I just wonder if there's some connection to the cf stress we live with that effect our dreams and make them that much worse then so many other's bad dreams. Everyone has thought I'm freak when I talk about the dreams I've had. I've never really known what to say. They're just there and crazy.
