Dr's- male vs female

I have always had a female doctor and got along with her really well but now I've changed and have a male. I don't like him quite as much and don't feel I can share things with him.
Does anyone else feel there's a difference between male and female doctor's or do you think it may just be my docotr- not his gender? I'm considering changing (to another male- just a different guy) just want to hear other peoples pov's.
Ta!

when i was at the childrens hospital there was a wonderful female doc there. she was very thorough and actually listened if i told her something. i dont feel i can tell my current male doc anything. although, my old gp was male and he was a great gp. unfortunately he left for england.

I have noticed through the years that regardless of health (whether someone has CF, or doesn't...) that most females prefer female doctors and males prefer male doctors. Seems to me the underlying reason might be that you probably have more in common and feel more comfortable talking with someone of the same sex. I know this isn't ture for everyone-but it does seem to be a pattern.

I have had both a wonderful female and male doctor (several actually) as they all worked as a group. I unfortunately had to transfer over to the adult side (NOOOOOO!) I've seen no real difference between the male and female doctors (albeit the female is a little bit more stubborn ) Currently all my doctors are male (I hadn't realize that until now) and they're all great, wouldn't trade them for the world (make me an offer and we'll see about that one though) anyway that's just my p.o.v.

I agree with the other posters that said it's probably not the sex of the doctor, but the doctor himself that you don't like. The only doctor I'm personally sex-squeamish on is my OB/Gyn - I just can't wrap my little brain around having a male. As far as my boyfriend's CF doctor goes... he was seeing a woman before. I didn't like her much (not because she was a woman, but because of how she tended to not listen). He's now seeing a male doc, and I think he's the greatest.

If you don't like the doctor, and you have other options, it is entirely your right to switch. If you aren't comfortable with your doctor, you probably aren't going to be as up-front with them as you would with someone you like.

Right before i switched to U OF M i went to MSU clinic and i had the same Main CF doc for 22 years! LOL he was a very smart man but kinda lacked in the one on one and getting to really know the CF kids/ppl....But he saved my life and im very lucky to have met the guy. His co partner was a Woman and i really liked her she was so nice and a great friend to have. Now that i am at U OF M i have another main male doc he seems real good! and nice! so we will see how that goes.

I have had both genders and do not mind either. I get upset when they are not aggresive enough and have only had that problem twice!

My quack is male as most of my others have been. They have all been excellent, and I don't worry much about dignity with personal matters, but would prob prefer woman as gyno and stuff are easier with GP females. Still, I am not going to let it bother my health - and my b/f (non-CF) seems to talk better with blokes about these things- maybe it's better for him to understand Cf talking to a man
