Emma's Infant Pulmonary Function Test

The test went fine. They had a little trouble keeping her asleep, but they were able to complete the testing.

The doctor said her numbers look good. I have the results in front of me, but I forget which numbers he said were the ones they are interested in. There are 2 numbers. One is before they gave her albuterol and the other is after. I think these are the ones that he discussed with us: (the first number is pre albuterol and the 2nd number is post albuterol)

FVC, ml 257
257 & 257
% Pred 122%
There was no change after they gave her albuterol

FEV 0.5, ml
220 & 219
% Pred 122%
change after they gave her albuterol -0.5%

FEV 0.5/FVC
0.86 & 0.85
% Pred 100%
change after they gave her albuterol -1.2%

RV, TLC
0.41 & 0.32
% Pred 116%
change after they gave her albuterol -22%

Interpretation:
Normal flows and volumes. Mild air trapping that is significantly improved after albuterol.
