excessive thirst?

today we are heading out for Kaidens appt tomorrow (the hospital is 6 hrs away) and ive been meaning to ask if excessive thirst was a symptom of CF??

Ever since he started on water he has to have it several times a night. He wakes up desperate and in a panic for it. He also drinks tons during the day. obviously a healthy thing to do, but I have an older son and he was never drank as much as Kaiden needs to drink.

Just wondering if its something I should bring up to the Dr. if its another symptom or not.

tomorrow is his 2nd sweat test and meeting with the pulmonologist! they actually didnt get the genetics test scheduled!!!!!!!!!!! so when we are there im pushing for it to be done this week!

We haven't had to deal with CFRD (Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes) yet, but there is such a thing, and it comes to my mind when I saw your post. Hopefully others will jump on with more info. The pancreas can pretty much shut down with CF, and the pancreas produces insulin.

Crossing fingers for your appointment. Regarding scheduling the genetic test - they just need to draw blood and send it in. Surely they can accomodate you on that when you are there?

If one has diabetes, one of the first signs might be excessive thirst, no matter if one has cf or not.
So I would definitely tell the doc.
