Posted in adult section, but didn't get much response. Can anyone help?

Hi. Need some advice. I have been struggling with this for a few weeks. A family member had a really bad staph infection that took 1 month to heal over (just recently). She still has pink scar tissue on her back, but one doctor said pink can mean inflammation. She takes care of my daughter a few days a week normally. Since her staph I have kept her out of the house.

When do I let her back in our house and take care of our daughter? Is she safe now that it has healed over? How long does the bacteria live on her clothes, things, etc.? Sorry if I sound completely ignorant, but there is so much conflicting information available.

Thanks,
Edan

we had this issue with a family member also....our doc told us to have the family member tested to see if the staph is active or dormant. there is a series of 3 test that they take and they can tell... the family members doc must order the test and it is "iffy" whether or not insurance will pay for it. i would ask your cf clinic what their thoughts are on the subject. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
