Hi everybody, I am always lethargic and likes to sleep all the day also suffer from leg cramps is this due to lack of oxygen , i ve been advised to monitor my saturation levels at night but need an oxemeter. In hospital, my sat drops quickly to mid 80's when i am off oxygen. Do you think i should be start thinking about bringing oxygen to home.

Bringing O2 home would help you out, but you need to see if there is a reason for your low stats other than "just CF". See if you culture any new bacteria, are you diabetic, is your nutrition up to par (you'd be amaized at how little diet changes make you feel)? Are you religious w/ your airway clearance? Search for some answers and maybe you won't need O2 at all. Good luck,Debbie22 yr old w/ CF

O2 at night would be best, I had that problem before transplant. It really helped. I also got leg cramps too, but actually they found out that that wasn't due from lack of oxygen but lack of magnesium... hmm. If you wake up in the morning and have headaches, that is a symptom of lack of oxygen during the night. I should know, I had some killer ones. Hoped this helped.~Candice

Have you had your hemoglobin checked lately. I found out my hemoglobin was low (anemia) from another type of doctoer and she put me on prescription Iron tablets. I noticed a difference soon after. I had alot more energy and my health seemed to improve. I talked to my CF doctor about it and she said, whatever works for you. She has been writing the prescription for me now. I have been taking it for a year now and I think it helps my energy level and health. Just a suggestion. PLEASE talk to your CF doctor about it first if you want to try it.
