Green Jello
*high in protein (cottage cheese)
*strengthens bones, high vit c, aids in digestion (pineapple)

Ingredients
2 packages of lime jello (can be sugar free if CFRD)
1-2 cups cottage cheese (any fat % will work)
1 small can crushed or chunk pineapple.

Instructions
Prepare the jello with 2 cups hot water as described on box. Stir well assuring all powder is melted and not on bottom of container. For the 2 cups cold water, start with all the pineapple juice drained from the can and supplement with cold water to make 2 cups. Add to jello. Refrigerate for 1 to 1-1/2 hours and then mix in cottage cheese and pinepple. After 3 hours this healthy snack should be ready to enjoy.

I make these whipped sweet potatoes. They have protein and them and tons of vitamins from the sweet potatoes. I have heard from my doula, doctor and lastly my mother (lol) that sweet potatoes are one of the best things to eat during preg. Since I love them, its not a problem. These are rich and definately a comfort food.

Big bag potatoes-about 10 medium to large sized ones.
Wash and boil the potatoes, skin on.
When you can prick them with a fork and they are soft, take them out.
Let them sit for a few minutes to cool and peel them. Sometimes I wear rubber gloves to peel b/c they are still so hot.
Put the pot's in a large bowl.
Use a hand mixer-and lightly mash them up.
Put it 1/2 cup heavy cream, light cream, or whole milk, and 1/4 stick of butter.
Whip them for a few minutes till they are smoother and creamier.
Add another 1/4-1/2 cup cream or milk (you can also use half cream, half chicken stock if you like it less thick tasting or less calories-this tastes real good too), and another 1/4 stick of butter. If you like more butter, or need the calories, put up to a whole stick total in the recipe.
Whip again, this time on the highest setting.
Add salt-its hard to say how much. Total probably about 1 Tsp, I'm guessing. But I like alot of salt.

I make a big batch like this for us, and then I'll eat a cup or so every day till they're gone, to get my veggie servings in.

I have been craving savory food (like roast chicken, pot stickers, etc), but the smell of food cooking makes me nauseous. Anyone have tricks for cooking something good without smelling it? I don't really want to eat microwave dinners...

Eat out sometimes if you can! My husband used to take me to a restaurant that made wonderful lamb or beef stew.

I discovered the perfect thing!!! Now, keep in mind that I don't have CF, so I don't need to worry as much about weight loss during pregnancy. Because the smell of cooking makes me nauseous, especially meet cooking (and any precooked meat has to be heated to avoid listeriosis), I got the smoked and flavored tofu that is already cooked with seasonings is a great alternative. It's also a great snack, sliced up with your favorite dipping sauce.

I really struggled to put on weight during pregnancy. Any time I ate I felt immediately full and sick and I was sick a lot from coughing too, so the combination was very difficult to manage.

I ended up surviving and growing my baby thanks to the following recipe:

1 x sachet Scandishake powder (available on prescription in the UK - not sure if same name in US?)
Full-fat milk
1-2 scoops of full-fat ice cream
Lots of double cream
Some Polycal powder (another prescription supplement that is a powder with no taste packed with calories)

Whizz up all the ingredients with a blender to make a really high-calorie thick, frothy milkshake. I used to to love the banana flavour of Scandishake with vanilla ice cream. Yummy!
