Fecal Incontinence after Delivery

Okay, so this is kind of gross, but I have had some fecal incontinence since delivering Alex. It has been about 3 weeks since his birth. I read that you may have fecal incontinence for a few days after birth, but I have had some about 4 times since his birth, with the most recent being last night. When it happens, it's because I've been coughing, although obviously it doesn't happen every time I cough since it's only happened about 4 times. Has anyone else had this happen? Does it go away?

Hi Jeana

I havent got cf myself, but I have delivered some babies...I did suffer from that problem, for me it was mainly to do with flatulence...couldnt hold it in, very embarrassing.

It did improve as time went on, but it actually took quite a while. I had an episiotomy (?) which really caused the problem I think.

Ihope that helps you feel like your not the only one at least. It was difficult from a social pov, and I didnt go out as much because of the problem. The best thing you can do is the old pelvic floor excercises!!
