Feeding my 14 Month Old.. Help!!

I am sure others here have had this same issue... so I was hoping I could get some advice.
My 14 month old has completely lost interest in eating, it has now been almost 3 weeks since he had a REAL meal! He picks at certain foods every now and then... and he takes about 24 oz of Pediasure over night, but I don't see this getting any better. Is this common?
I have tried making him EVERYTHING possible and still no interest. He generally eats 2-3 bites really well and then spits everything else out after those....
I am getting really frustrated... Please let me know if you have any advice!!

Thanks again

Nicole,

I understand your frustration...My son is a very picky eater. I thought I share my son new FAVORITE thing to eat. It's so easy to make up in the microwave, Easy Mack by Kraft. I just add lots of butter and 2tlbs of sour cream, and spinkle shreeded cheddar in, and stir it up. It's the only thing I know for sure that is super high in calories and seems to enjoy. He uses his fingers, but he gets the job done! I also have been buying frozen blue berry pankakes, and put butter and syrup on them. Again he uses fingers. He won't eat eat if I put it on a fork for him. For Fruit, I loved the Dole Fruit cups his has 1/2 breakfast and the other half for lunch. Have you tried adding Carnation Instant Breakfast French Vanillia to his milk. Ohh the best tip got for helping my son become a stronger eater was limiting his milk to 20 oz a day. I was drowning his apetite. I wish you lots of luck

I seem to recall still giving DS formula until he was 18 months 'cuz he was such a dreadful eater. Or I'd feed him what few things I KNEW he'd like -- yogurt, mac and cheese... Many a time I'd cry, he'd cry... Mealtimes can be soooo stressful and I would try to smile and say mealtimes are HAPPY TIMES.

We once took a trip to mexico for a wedding when DS was 2 1/2 and I brought along enough mini cans of spagettios and boxes of fruit snacks to keep him fed. People would tell me not to worry about it, that eventually he'd eat and he could have cared less. Try not to stress and if you find something he likes, feed it to him, shovel it in even if it means he's going to eat it for every single meal, every single day.

It does get better when he'll be able to TELL you what he wants.

Is he taking the Pediasure by g-tube or just drinking that much? It seems to me that 24 oz of Pediasure at night would make him not hungry during the day. My son is on a g-tube feed at night and it has always been a battle to get enough calories in him at night, yet still allow him to be hungry enough to eat by mouth during the day. If you can I would suggest cutting down on the Pediasure and see if that helps his appetite.
