i know this is kinda gross, but here goes...... Is it normal to have mucus in your monthly flow. i always thought that it was blood clots, but after i really looked at it (i know, gross) i realized it is actually mucus. i was just wondering if this was normal or is there something wrong? this has always happened to me and i just never thought about it. i also get pretty bad cramps, not like where i need prescription pain killers

PS the pill lessens the cramps, also makes periods lighter, etc.

Hope this helps, but you're not alone with mucus!

Mucus in your period is normal. CFers produce mucus in so many different places. If you think about it, women with CF have a hard time getting pregnant due to the high amounts of mucus near the cervix. So yes, mucus is normal in your flow.

I have the same issue. And yes, it is nasty. Sometimes its so think its almost like rubber (eww, I know...). But it's normal. As for the cramps, I used to have them really bad, too, but since I've been on the pill, I haven't had any. You might want to consider it (even if you aren't sexually active) just for those nice perks it comes with at that time of the month.

i have the mucus all the time, with or without my period. In fact I have so much that now I have little cysts all over my cervix. Not too dangerous but just at your next gyno ask for them to pay attention to it.

I think that this a normal thing for all women.. Most women have mucus around the time of their period.. Nothing to worry about. As far as the bad cramps, oh I get them to, speak to your gyno and maybe get something...

They found I had endometrosis and fibroids which were adding to my painful periods

Hey, hey Sean......what are ya doin' lookin' at a female question post?

To answer the question tho....I have that "discharge", but mine seems to be every other month. Now my understanding is that the ovaries take turns ovalating & I have a known cyst on my left ovary. I ASSUMED that the discharge (which is just like glue & is quite gross & scary the first time I saw it) was from that.
