My son's,(22 yrs.old mostly sinus symptoms - 3 surgeries) sweat test just came back positive(?) with a 53. Should he have the test again ? It was done at the local hospital. I've heard that there are more false positives than false negatives - anybody know about this? Also, anyone use a center in the Chicago area? Loyola University is closer for us and also in our insurance network. Thanks.

The sweat test can be unreliable. I would reccomend visiting an accredited CF center. You can find one at www.cff.org its the CF Foundation's website. More than likely they will order genetic testing, which I reccomend anyway. Its more accurate. Just make sure its the full panel test done by Ambry Genetics. Good luck! Keep us posted, and welcome to the site!

I highly reccommend Children's Hospital in Chicago. I have gone there my whole life and love the doctors. When I transferred to the adult clinic at Northwestern my clinic days stayed at Children's which I liked.

Dr. McColley (the children's doctor) is a very nice woman and has done a lot for CF.
