Well, yesterday was my first time at clinic, and my brothers too. It went pretty well, but it took about 3 and a half hours! So I'm doing really well with my weight, i'm 5'6 and a quarter and 124 pounds. And my FEV's have improved since I've gotten out of the hospital..it's at 87%, but the small airways are low, only at 50. My brother has really high FEV's but a lot of trouble gaining weight . So we have oppsite problems..but we do the same stuff of course. i'm guessing his FEV's are better because he didn't get really sick, I had global pneumonia, so are my lungs still recovering and healing themselves from that? Will my FEV's get higher? I mean I exercise everyday... Oh and is it more difficult for the small airways to heal? what are your FEVs?

You indicate that you're exercising every day -- are you also doing some sort of airway clearance? Vest, Flutter, Chestphysiotherapy? Increasing those things, may also help significantly. Do they have you doing any nebulized medications -- bronchiodialator, pulmozyme, hypertonic saline, mucomyst, etc.?

I read some of your previous posts indicating you didn't like the vest, didn't feel it worked for you and that you only did it for 10 minutes. You may want to read some posts on making the vest work for you, huff coughing -- possibly change up some of the settings -- increase the pressure and the time and frequency of your vesting.

Small airways are very difficult to maintain. Once they get clogged up its takes a lot to get them open. Its not impossible, but for me, at least, it takes long term IVs & tons of therapy in addition to lots of fluids, exercise etc.

Patience & deligence is the key!!!
