So yesterday my period appeared to be starting, so as instructed I went up to see the fertility nurses at 8am this morning (its 1.5 hours drive each way and I don't do mornings so I'm glad my dear husband was driving!)

They took my blood to test my estrogen levels and then gave me the prescription for Menopur and all the needles and syringes I need in order to inject myself. I think its quite useful that I'm trained to give my own IV's as the instructions on mixing up the drug and administering it seemed like 2nd nature (though obviously I don't usually stab myself with needles when doing IV's!)

However this afternoon they rang to stay my estrogen levels are too high at the moment to begin the injections and they would expect them to be lower at the start of a period. I explained that I don't think it has actually properly started as although there was spotting yesterday, there has been nothing today.

So on Friday morning I have to repeat the whole process again and HOPE that my estrogen levels are lower so I can begin injecting. Otherwise this month's cycle will have to be cancelled which I really don't want!

Has anyone else here been on Menopur injections? How did you find them? Were there any side effects?

Hi,
I have heard of that drug but never had clinical experience with it. I think surrogacy reproduction does that drug (unsure if it is the donating egg person or the person who is setting up the uterus to carry the baby).

I have been approached to try femara if I don't have a LH surge again. I'm on day 15 and am doing daily ovulation tracking. I was scheduled for an US yest, but due to a stomach bug, I couldn't get out of bed. So I have to wait til next month. Not a bad thing since my hope is to have my due date around Christmas so I only have one more full semester of school left to do.

Good luck!!!!

Well we did the 140 mile round trip again at 6.30am this morning for the blood test! And I got the phonecall at 2pm....to say the estradiol level was still high at 200! <img src=""> It should be under 100 really and I think I they woulnd't normally go ahead with treatment unless it was below 150, but the nurse said that they had decided that because of my situation they are going to go ahead and give it a try. So tonight I start injecting! Will keep you all posted....
