First period after going off BC

Hi,

I went off birth control about a month ago, and a few days ago just got my period. My OB suggested waiting three months before trying, so that is what we are doing. Anyway, my period has been really light, and I haven't had any cramps. I had a heavier, more crampy period on BC and prior to going on BC. I know that one's period changes over time. But, I am concerned that maybe I am not ovulating...has anyone had a similar experience?

Thanks!

Mary,
Taking your Basal temp. will help you know if your ovulating. Some of the girls on here are really good at charting, testing cervical mucus ect. Other than going to a doctor and finding out that way, I'm not sure you can tell by just your periods. I was on BC in high school because my periods were crazy. And I've been off it now for like 7 years. My periods are really light and only last a few days. 3-4 to be exact. I've been to infertility drs. and I've never been under suspicion for not ovulating. But in the meantime you can use this time to start charting and learning more about your cycle so when you do try, you'll know when to. I wish I could help you more with charting but to be completely honest I'm just figuring it out myself. I've seen some on here use www.fertilityfriend.com and I recently signed up with them as well. They send you lessons everyday via email in learning how to chart. lol Seems kinda silly but it helps! BTW at www.early-pregnancy-tests.com you can buy cheap ovulation strips than you can in the stores. So once you know about when you should be ovulating you can start testing your urine to see if the hormone (LH) is actively present.
Hope this was of some help to you! Good luck with everything =)
