First PFT....FEV 151!

Aidan will be 5 next month and did his first real PFT today. It took a few tries and he didn't breathe out for the entire 6 seconds that they want for the Tiger2 Study but...his FEV1 was 151% the last time he tried! So I was psyched, that's really good, right? They said anything over 80% is normal?

Wow -- fabulous news Megan. I only know about the PFTs I've done for my asthma. I do know there is a bit of a learning curve with it that might make a child get a lower score. It doesn't sound like Aidan had a problem learning how to do it. WTG Aidan. I hope his numbers stay like this for a long long long time!!!!

Hey Megan ,,, that is great about him catching on quickly to the lung function test....Makailyn caught on very quickly also,,her numbers were never that high,,, but they were close....
They did take a big drop this last year,,,, but we are working on getting them up... I've been told anything a 100 or higher was normal.........
But,,, what is truly anything normal with CF,,due to it's complexity...It's always full of surprise's>>><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

Tell Aidan good job,, for trying his best,,( even if his #s go lower),, but I know you probly already know that...
I think he'll be able to be real consistant with #'s that good,, when he's does his FU appts,,,so that is great for you and him....
