First SSI hearing yesterday

Usually I just compile medical data and create forms for the CFer or their families to send in with their application, or appeal to take to the hearing.

But yesterday I appeared by phone at my first hearing ever. Go figure that afternoon I had a minor (but resolveable!!!) family emergency that made me unavailable for 20 minutes before the hearing started and 20 minutes after grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. However, I did call in and was recieved warmly by the judge (thank goodness!!)

The judge repeated a little about what had been discussed then asked me if I had anything to add. I stated how this CFer met the impairment listings, and he immediately looked it up in his handbook, said "yes she does, and based on that I'm granting her disability benefits from the time of application".

I'm so excited for the family!!! I was nervous, this being my first appearance at a hearing, and then with that family siutation I thought all was lost. But it turned out wonderfully for the family!

Just wanted to share where I knew it would be understood!
