First time using Tobi

Hi, all,
Getting ready to do Tobi for the first time and the clinic is closed. We also do hs saline. We have two pari cups, but only one mask, so we will have to sterilize the mask between each med.
Is this the correct order?
1. two puffs of albuterol
2. CPT
3. inhaled TOBI

...wait 30 minutes or so to sterlize the mask.
4. hypertonic saline

I assume albuterol and CPT would help open the airways for Tobi.

we were told to do albuterol, hts, tobi then cpt....they said to always to cpt last. ??? every doc is different, drives you crazy!!! lol

This is more or less correct. I've never heard of doc suggesting CPT after TOBI -- CPT opens the airways, true, but the goal is also to cough, and you should not be inducing coughing right after TOBI b/c you want the abx to remain in the lungs.

Most docs have told me to use HTS before TOBI as well, either before or after the CPT.

This is more or less correct. I've never heard of doc suggesting CPT after TOBI -- CPT opens the airways, true, but the goal is also to cough, and you should not be inducing coughing right after TOBI b/c you want the abx to remain in the lungs.

This is more or less correct. I've never heard of doc suggesting CPT after TOBI -- CPT opens the airways, true, but the goal is also to cough, and you should not be inducing coughing right after TOBI b/c you want the abx to remain in the lungs.

TOBI should be last, that is what I have always been told at least. Hypertonic Saline should be with, before, or right after CPT, since it is to thin the mucus so it can be coughed out easier.

It was explained that you want the TOBI last because you want the TOBI to sit and saturate the mucus, until the next treatment. Like Piper said, you dont want to breath the TOBI in then cough up all the mucus that had the TOBI on it... if that makes sense <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
