Just wondering if anyone recieved the eflow who is on florida medicaid.I was just told today that medicaid will no longer cover it or the compounded meds it uses and we have to return it.according to the pharmacy a new medicaid pharmacy director had taken over and been in office 30 days and decided to drop it from their list of equipment along with its compounded meds.even though the compounded drugs are more cost effective, not to mention it is very fast so now we are back to 1hour long treatments and dreading treatment time.I guess medicaid would rather pay more instead of trying to save. And the new director gave no reason why. Here is the message on the pharmacy website

Florida Medicaid eFlow pilot program cancelled
Florida Medicaid has cancelled the popular eFlow pilot program for cystic fibrosis patients. The eFlow machine had been very popular and effective in improving compliance with respiratory medications that could take up to 15 minutes to deliver with conventional nebulizers. As of Thursday October 16th, Florida Medicaid will no longer cover the eFlow or the specialized medications needed to use it. Florida Medicaid gave no reason for the change. Carter's will be arranging alternatives for our current eFlow patients and notifying them this week of any changes.

<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I'm so sorry, that really stinks as we love our eflow and are in GA.

However, I can tell you that the eflow is NOT FDA approved for the compounded drugs so it is no uncommon at this point to have insurance/medicaid balk at paying.

Hopefuly Pari is able to resolve this in the future.

This is terrible! I really think the government is going to try anything they can to save money in this economy.

When I was living in Michigan, the governor was trying to cut cystic fibrosis patients from the program (as well as sickle cell patients). I was so mad! Fortunately it didn't pass and we got to stay on the plan.

I'm sorry, that stinks <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">
