Flu Shot

I have been sick on and off for about a month or so now. Anything from CF flare up to sinuses from the weather changing. It seems like as soon as I get over one thing something else pops up. I'm still on an antibiotic for MRSA acting up. However, the other night my lymph nodes under my neck felt slightly enlarged, stuffy nose and drainage, coughing more especially at night (need cough med, propped up on pillows to sleep, and can enduce vomitting), fatigued, low-grade fever....just enough to be very annoying. I go to my local doctor on Thursday but he isnt giving out Flu shots. I'm gonna have to get it on my own and I dont want the opportunity to pass by because I know how important it is. I want to be well (more so than now) when I get my flu shot. I dont want my runned down immune system to open the window to more problems. I know they say you cant get the flu from a flu shot, but I have gotten sick afterwards before. So, my question is: Should I get a flu shot when I'm not well or wait? I'm wondering what your doctor's have told you to do, if you know what the guildlines are, or your personal experiences. Thanks in advance <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I do not take flu shots because I have had many reactions and I certainly would not take one if I was sick. Your immune system needs to be healthy to take in the flu shot. You are "teasing your immune system" when you take the flu shot and if you are already sick, that sounds like you will be putting your system into overload.

I highly doubt a doctor will take you to take the flu shot when you are not well.

I hope you feel BETTER SOON

It has been my experience with myself & children that the doctors will not allow a flu shot if you are sick or have just gotten over an illness. We get ours through our doctors but I think even the little flu clinics ask you if you have been sick before they will administer the shot.

I hope that you feel better soon.
