Flying on airplane with PICC & IV meds

Hey there! I have a PICC in & need it for another week. I am supposed to go on a girls weekend to California (4 hour flight for me) & I really want to go if I feel ok. I may still be on the IV meds & still have my PICC at that time. Is it possible for me to fly? I guess I just worry about the pressure from the plane doing something crazy to the PICC tip which is in my right atrium.
Also, any ideas how to keep all those home IV "hang grenade" meds cold?
Has anyone ever flown like this?
Let me know your thoughts & suggestions. I will be on the flight by myself, so I'm just a little nervous if anything goes wrong!

I don't have specific answers for you but I'm sure someone will be able to answer your question from their own experience. I just wanted to wish you lots of fun on your girls weekend. I hope it all works out to be not too much of a pain for you to travel with your PICC and meds. Let us know how it goes.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Before being a SAHM I worked in Infusion. My advice is this: 1 I would ask your doctor about the PICC line. 2. Contact the airline and ask about carring on a small insulated bag with ice packs to keep meds cool. Also you would need to know what info they require from your doc regarding the meds. Good Luck and hope you have a great time.

I once flew from California to Montana with a PICC and all of my meds. I had no problem with the PICC itself and I just kept my meds cold in a soft cooler with ice packs. I had a doctors note that stated all of the meds I had in case I got hassled at the airport, but I didn't. And keep your meds and everything else health related as your carry-on.

Have fun, where in California are you going?
