<STRONG><FONT color=#008000>Hello allI have not been on for awhile due to having teeth issues.  I have to have 5 teeth pulled by a oral surgeon.  I have to be put under while it is done.  This does not bother me, what bothers me is the $1200 it is going to cost!!!!!  And that is AFTER dental insurance!  I have always taken very good care of my teeth but for some reason they have been going bad for the past couple of years.  I have been in a lot of pain, but the GOOD drugs the doc gave me help......lol.Anyways,  I found the YoBaby yogart today.  I must have looked like an idiot standing at the yogort section at WalMart looking at every yogort on the shelf.....lol.  I found that the Yoplait custard style yogorts are much more high in calories.  They have almost 200 calories and have great flavors such as Boston Creme Pie, Key Lime Pie, and Banana Creme Pie.  I am going to have Courtney try them and will let you all know what she says.I still have not been able to get anyone to help me with the Boost Pudding which I REALLY want to get.  I went to the pharmacy at WalMart today, and the lady just looked at me like I was crazy.  I guess I will just go to their website and order from there.  I also wanted to talk about Lunchables.  I do not get them too often, but man those things are PACKED full of calories.  The Nacho Lunchable just contains chips, nacho sauce, a drink, and a small candy and it has 500 calories!!!  It is a very small portion of food, and Courtney loves it because she can eat a small amount and still the the calories she needs.  No one has ever really talked about lunchable so I wanted to bring it up.Okay, that is all for now.  Hope everyone and their families are doing well.  Take care.Seanamom to Lauren-14 (almost 15 on Valentine's Day) no CFCourtney-13, with CFCameron-10, no CF</FONT></STRONG>

Key Lime pie is one of my Favs. Jaden isn't very coopertaive lately with eating but my son loves the stuff. Wonder if you can add a little bit of dry milk to it to add some extra calories?

I prefer the yoplait custard and the lecreme, but DS has been on a trix yogurt kick -- think it's about 120 calories for the small container. He tends to eat those 'cuz he's a toddler and likes the cool colors and the graphics on the package. Whatever works. Last summer I got some gogurt -- packets shaped like freezy pops and I put them in the freezer and he loved those. A friend of mine just picked up some pudding in a similar container.

I also found peanut butter in a tube like toothpaste. DS loves squirting it out onto crackers and it's great to travel with.

Someone once mentioned slimfast meal bars. Feeding those to their kids as snacks. They have about 220 calories, taste good and have lots of vitamins and minerals. I tried a pria bar at the wholesale club the other day and just about spit it out and barfed in the garbage can next to the sample lady -- it was putrid. I don't know if anyone has had luck with sports bars. The ones I've tasted are icky. Liza

Seana, do you have insurance coverage? f I were you I would think about looking into seeing if they will pay. You'd be surprised. Also, try this website: <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.ross.com/reimbursement/default.asp">http://www.ross.com/reimbursement/default.asp</a>. Here's their patient assistance program where they can help you pay for the dnsure if you need it and meet their financial criteria: <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.needymeds.com/papforms/407.pdf">http://www.needymeds.com/papforms/407.pdf</a>

If the last one doesn't open up, let me know.

Also, haven't ocmpared the nutrition levels and such but I have tried the Ensure pudding and I have tried the Sylvester Stallone pudding and I LOVE The taste of sylvesters. His concentrates on protein though I believe. <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.instonenutrition.com/shop/pudding.asp">http://www.instonenutrition.com/shop/pudding.asp</a>

Julie,

Do you think certain insurances would cover some of the costs for Boost? Our clinic just suggested my son drink a few each each day versus the one can a night he's been having. The cost adds up.

Thanks,

Mark's medicaid in WA and CA paid for it. Right now I am on appeal #7 with our Tricare Military insurance (the government, I swear!!!!) and are getting ready to go before a federal judge for a hearing on the issue. Suprisingly though, a number of insurance companies WILL pay for it with a CF diagnosis. Most often the word(s) they are looking for are: "medical conditions of malabsorption" "inborn errors of metabolism""pancreatic Insufficiency"....

What insurance do you have? Really the only way to find out is to have a doctor write the Rx, then take it to the pharmacy. If they deny it, appeal it. I already have letters written for Mark's case that I can forward onto you and you can use what applies to your child.

Not sure if this thread is about high calorie food ideas, but I thought I'd mention Cliff bars - widely available "fitness" bars with a pretty good nutritional profile and calories that come in a bunch of tasty varieties. My 2 year old w/CF is quite fond of them for snacks

Just wanted to add that YoBaby also has drinkable yogurt that is wholemilk. It is 6 ounces a bottle and has 190 calories and 7 grams fat. Lots of calcium and protein as well. plus it has the good yogurt cultures in them. my daughter used to drink these then got tired of them but at the grocery store today wanted me to buy it and drank the whole thing.
