For proof of age, in America, what are the acceptable form of IDs that bouncers or whoever will accept? Passports? Driving Licences? Anything else?

Thanks! Yeah I'll be over for the summer. I'd never bring my passport out to a bar here just in case I lost it. So seeing as I'd need it to get home at the end of the Summer, I'd be less likely to want to bring it out over there. Would they accept an ISIC card (international student card?) do you think?
