I just had a friend die of CF 3 weeks ago and I have a few others who are looking at getting on the lung transplant list or else they'll be in trouble too. I think this article misrepresents the realities of this disease.
I remember a few years ago I read and article stating that CF is turning into a disease such as diabetes - you have to work to keep healthy, but ultimately if you're compliant things should be relatively OK.
I know kids under age 10 who aren't doing so well with the disease either. I'm all for hope, but neglecting to speak about the reality of the disease today bugs me.
I've been reading articles like this since 1989 when the gene was discovered - when a drug's in my hand, I'll believe it. Until then, I'll mourn the CFer's who pass of this cruel disease, while the Rainbow smoke people keep on writing....
