the propellent in the puffers was bad for the environment. All those old inhalers are being redeisgned/"propelled".
still can get albuterol for a nebulizer though....

If memory serves, originally a directive was set that by the year 2000 that all meter dose inhalers must use an alternative propellant. The only medicine that complied at all was proventil(brand name albuterol) with a new inhaler, proventil HFA and it was late. The recently released Xopenex inhaler has a chloroflurocarbon alternative propellant as well. This new "law" is why many newer meds are dry powder inhalers like spiriva and advair, no propellant just crush and suck it in.
Maybe by 2008 the patent proventil has on thier HFA formula will be out and manufactures can "steal" their formula

have a nice day....

My previous dr. had me on Proventil - said it was the only albuterol inhaler that didn't give partial doses at the end of the canister. Maybe he was actually just a nature nut :) My new doctor makes me nebulize it so I am using DuoNeb brand albuterol.
