What can I use for granulation? this morning when my daughter finished her overnight feed, I notice there is a little bit of redness on one side of the Mickey Button. I am not 100% sure that it is granulation because is really small, but I don't think I noticed it before.
Thanks

Call your surgeron, they may need to see it. This is how my sons cellulitis started after his tube was placed. She may need an antibiotic. If it is granulation tissue, they can prescribe something for it. Please call right away, my son developers cellulitis in the hospital which started out looking just red. It took IV antibiotics and 5 rounds of oral antibiotics to clear It. I am not trying to scare you but I never want anyone to go through what my son went through with that that type of infection. Good luck!

I called her g tube surgeon office before I posted here, but is almost impossible to get to talk to someone, they keep transferring my call. The gtube nurse told us while we were in the hospital that they don't return calls right away, so until I hear from them I'm hear freaking out. I want to post a picture here bur I don't know how. At first I thought it was dry blood from the surgery but I was trying to clean it with damp q tip but i'ts not coming off, but it is hard to get to the red spots because they are so close to the button. I'll post a picture as long as I learn how to do it.

If you don't hear back soon call her pedetrician. That's who I had to turn to once home because it was so hard to get a call back. He was a godsend during that time. My sons infection occurred before we left the hospital but was very difficult to treat. Hope you hear back soon.

The g tube clinic called back and gave me an appointment for Friday. I wish they could see her before.

I don't have any solution to your conundrum but I share your anxiety. If you see something you want to put online in a picture it musn't be just a little redness. My suggestion would be to call the pediatrition right now. It could be worthy of a controlled panic at worst so have your daughter seen by a trusted doctor. If the granulation is contained under the button or very close to that edge, she might be reacting to the plastic. If the granulation extends well beyond the button's edge contact with the skin or isn't generally all around where the button (or whatever is directly touching the outer skin) it could be an infection.

If you can, elevate the button surface from the skin. Maybe using a few grains of dry rice layed flat as stand-offs placed like petals on a flower around the button. I realize this may be impossible but you understand it may benefit to get air between button and skin for a while. Infection that may have started could be killed by free air and an air gap keeps any allergic material lifted. The bad news is it could be an allergy or infection errupting up through the skin from the under side of the appliance. This requires a doctor either way. Re-direct that panic and anxiety and advocate for your daughter's health with glacial authority. If that fails, go directly to panic and freaking out. It may not accomplish anyting but you are sure to feel better. Wear a mask.

We have been watching very closely the redness and is getting bigger. I called g tube clinic and they gave me an appointment for Friday at 1 pm. The waiting is killing me. Husband went to pharmacy but couldn't find any of the over the counter products that we could use. To top it off she hasn't had a bowel movement since last Friday. (Her g tube surgery was on Wednesday and they gave her an enema in the hospital on Friday , she was able to go but that was the last time she did. I have been waiting hoping she would go but nothing. I gave her water with Miralax everyday but nothing happen.

Call ped. Because of complications with my sons surgery he spent 10 days in te hospital. I would not mess around. What formula is she on. The one my son is on causes him to dehydrate because of te concentration which we weren't aware of. Since it was liquid we assumed he was getting enough fluid. We have to push water through his tube every day to avoid dehydration. Before the doctors realized in he hospital, he became severely dehydrated to the point that his heart rate at rest was180. They thought something else was wrong. I feel they rush te kids out of the hospital after these types of surgeries and they go home and have problems. Maybe she is a little dehydrated and this is why she hasn't had a bm since Friday.
