Getting tested...

My son's CF doc thinks I should be tested for CF and autoimmune deficiencies- so I'm going ahead with it. I've had a long history of lung infections- several a year- and horrible sinus infections almost every other month and pneumonia about once a year for many years now. I have permanent scarring that has created a rattle that won't go away now. I'm asthmatic, and I have IBS and I'm lactose intolerant. Only thing that doesn't fit is that I don't have weight issues.

Kinda scared/kind of wondering if it could be... it would explain a lot.

I'm adopted so I don't have any medical history to know if it was in my family. We only realized we were carriers once my son was dx'd.

Best wishes for a useful and reassuring outcome to the testing. Often while tests are scary, it's so good to get a diagnosis that lets you address serious problems that it's a great relief to have them done. And congratulations on your adorable new baby!

Make sure you're getting the Ambry Amplified test so you are screened for every know gene.

Most CFer's don't have history in their family either - even if they're not adopted. So don't let that mislead you.
