ok so quick question. What does the cff say about it?

Are you just suppose to have the blog test done every year? Or is it the actual tolerance test?

The reason I ask is b/c my doc said they drew my blood while in the hospital and it looked fine so I don't need to have a tolerance test done. The last time I had the tolerance test was when I was preggo...

When I was going to vanderbilt they did the tolerance test EVERY YEAR....please help and if you can provide links I can print to show her I would appreciate it.

Yes you need to do an oral glucose tolerance test every year.

Your doc probably tested your HbA1c with the blood test, but an OGTT is what the CFF recommends that you get every single year.

I don't understand WHY she is fighting me on it. She keeps saying if that number was fine then I am fine - is that true???

no that's not true, otherwise the CFF recommendations would be to get a blood test once a year as opposed to an OGTT.

HBA1C tests sugar levels over a longer period of time. OGTT tests how you're doing at this very moment.

Call the CFF and ask them why they chose an OGTT if you want more info <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I don't get your doc's issue - it takes 3 maybe 7 seconds to write an rx for an OGTT. Why does she care if you get one or not?

I would be so furious if I were you...
