My computer is all wonky, and I thought I posted, but then my computer shut down.  So if this is a repost, I am sorry.  <div><br></div><div><br></div><div>My son had his sweat test today.  He did great with it, as far as keeping the stuff on and sweating, lol.  </div><div><br></div><div>His pediatrician called this evening and said his test came back borderline and we needed to repeat it.  She asked the person how worried she should be, but they said sometimes this happens, and we repeat it, and it is fine.  </div><div><br></div><div>I asked her what the exact number was, but she wasn't sure.  The official report hadn't come in, and she had been pulled out of an appt to take the call so she didn't write it down.  She did remember it was in the 40s.  From what I read that is BARELY borderline, so I am not anticipating an issue with this next one.  If it comes back borderline or worse again, well we will just deal with that if it comes to that.  </div><div><br></div><div>Thanks for letting me post!   </div>

Hello...my son too had a borderline sweat test...2 actually. He has been hospitalized about 8 times and he is only a year old. We had genetic testing done which all came back saying "can not rule out CF" Finially he got sick enough where they had to do a bronchioscopy and saw that he had a rare type of bacteria in his lungs that is usually onlly seen in kids with CF. Also with his symptoms and all the borderline testing he was diagnosed with CF unknown mutations based on clinical findings and observations. He is getting neb treatments and goes often to the doctor. He was considered a failure to thrive and still is struggling with maintaining weight but he has not had to go to the hospital for awhile so we are grateful for that! I hope all goes well with your child

May I ask a question?
I always read about children having to do several sweat tests and so on. But a genetic examination is much easier. Why is the sweat test still THE test?

<br>Maybe the sweat test is still THE test because it might cost less and results are quicker. I'm not sure though, good question. <div><br><div>I am assuming by genetic examination you mean genetic testing.<br>
<br>Your English is really good.</div></div>

Yes, genetic testing. :)
With our six weeks old daughter sweat test did not function and so she was geneticly (?) tested at once. Results were there within three days. About the costs I don't know yet, but it is paid by health insurance.
