Going through fertility treatment and need a friend!

I've used this forum before (about 6 months back) but have been a bit out of the loop lately and I've missed it! My husband and I have now been going down this road of fertility treatment for nearly 2 years and I've still not got anywhere! I've had 3 natural cycles of IUI, a stimulated cycle that was cancelled (due to hyper-stimulation) and a second stimulated cycle that didn't work. Then my last cycle was cancelled due to Easter being in the middle (and the state hospitals close over holidays and weekends which messed up my December one too!) Just waiting for my period to start this week and will then start my third (and final) IUI cycle before I get referred for IVF.

On top of this my brother (who also has CF) and his wife have just started IVF this month and I've just heard the news that they have 6 embryos all developing well, 2 of which will be implanted on Wednesday. They don't know anything about our attempts to get pregnant. Obviously I'm delighted for them but its so hard to hear how fast everything has happened for them (they only got referred for treatment a few months ago!) when we seem to be getting nowhere and when its being going on for so long.

Anyway, enough moaning! Just wondered if there were any other CF ladies going through the same thing who would like someone to share the highs and lows with? Hope you are all doing well xxx

Hey there! It's nice to "see" you back here. I'm so sorry about the failed IUIs. IF is so frustrating and heartbreaking. I am right there with you. We have done two natural IUIs and neither worked. We are just starting our third go at it, only this time I am taking Clomid. May I ask what fertility drugs you were taking on your stimulated cycles?

And I know how it feels when other people get pregnant right away - it's very hard. Just know that it is COMPLETELY normal to feel that way and we are here for you!

Hey there I have a 2yo DD from my first IVF and am gearing up to cycle in May but it will be a frozen embryo transfer this time. I never did IUI's but we did do femara/clomid cycles. Oh and I hyperstimmed after my IVF--not fun you have my sympathy.

if you want to chat directly you can pm me and we can exchange addy's. Otherwise here is a board where you can chat with others going through IUI or IVF or anythign else under sun

Awww thanks Nicole and Kristen, you are so kind!

Kristen - my stimulated cycles have involved injections of Menopur (not sure if it has the same brand name in the USA) followed by an HSG shot 36 hours before the IUI. It's funny to think now that I was adamant I wanted to try 3 natural cycles because I was so scared of getting pregnant with twins, and now here I am happy to take whatever the doctor feels I should take as its starting to feel impossible! I was told that there is only an 8-10% chance of conception with a natural cycle and that this rises to about 19% with stimulation, which isn't really a lot when you think about it, so now I'm happy to go for all the help I can get!

When I started out I thought that since my problem was diagnosed as being very sticky cervical mucus, a treatment that involved bypassing the cervix and putting all those swimmers in the right place would be pretty easy. How billions of sperm placed next to big fat eggs can still fail to work it out is quite intriguing...they must be plain lazy
