Maybe someone has some tips for me but I go to the grocery store every 2-3 days and buy $90-$100 of food a trip.  It's gotten to the point that even the people who work at the store must think I have some eating disorder and shopping addiction<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"><div><br></div><div>I have a non CF growing 13 year old boy(who just grew 4 inches this year and I am sure he's not done yet).  My daughter with CF who is almost 9 loves home cookin'.  We are not eating a lot of junk.  I run 25 miles a week and my husband works out alot too. Soo, we eat alot; between needing gatorade, fresh veggies, fish etc. I am always at the store and I'm so sick of it.  </div><div><br></div><div>I do not go to whole sale stores like BJ's or Sam's Club.  Do you think this would help?  THe nearest one is 50 miles away; would it be worth it?  Is there a membership fee?  Anyway, guess I need to start being more organized, maybe freezing pre made dinners, leftovers.</div><div><br></div><div>Tips anyone?</div>

I go to Sam's Club and the membership fee is about $35 a year. Ours is just a couple miles away, but mainly I buy powdered carnation instant breakfast -- box of 24 is about $7. Used to be cheaper, but still better than the grocery store. 4 pound tins of dry roasted peanuts. Case of campbells tomato soup. Pasta by the bulk. And aged white cheddar is much more economical. I also buy red/yellow/orange bell peppers, bacon. You CAN get a one day membership to just check it out. There are some items that cost about the same as the grocery stores or target/walmart and there are items that are just too big and end up being a waste. We're supposedly getting a Costco next year, so I'm anxious to check that out.

We also buy our beef from a meat locker. We get a split quarter. We're not much for steaks, but the ground beef is wonderful -- hardly any fat and good flavor. I hate buying grocery store beef.

Uhm 13 year old growing boy, ahh you might not have a choice, I recall eating everything insight from 13 to about 25, lol. Because of our schedules shopping every couple of days does not work to good us; especially before the girls left for school. My wife would take the calendar and write basically a weekly menu of what we were to have for dinner each night, list of snacks and lunches. And we did the shopping once a week based off the menu(plus made the coupon thing better too). Dinner and lunches almost always worked out but took the kids a couple of times to realize if you eat all the snacks in two days that means five more until we buy more. Just a suggestion good luck.

Oh and as for the eating disorder -- I hit the grocery store twice on Saturday and again on Sunday. Went shopping and then DH decided he was going to cook something for supper, so back I went. Then DS needed items for an autumn party -- crackers and bananas. Plus he's been on a Pirate Booty kick -- white cheddar cheese puffs. He goes thru a giant bag of it every other day.

Also, Sams also has some nice convenience items -- lassagna, casseroles -- something I can pop in the oven with no preparation on days we're rushed. Also they have big bags of skinless boneless chicken breast.
