Yes, I have what my doctor calls "mild" bronchiectasis in my upper right lobe. I had a CT scan done last year that showed this. He asked me, "Did something happen to you before you started seeing me?" I mentioned that I got really bad pneumonia and a collapsed lung that put me in ICU when I was 12, and he said, "That's probably what caused it."

My FEV1 is 115%

Mild bronchiectasis in lower left, lingula (a part of the upper left) and middle right. FEV1 around 100%--was much higher 10 yrs ago. Several cases of pneumonia as a kid, tons in my late twenties and early thirties, but not severe or hospitalized. Non-CF cultures (haemophilus, moraxella and once, a mycobacterium) and low sweat test (11), no mutations as per 95 test...

Hi

Thanks for replying...

wow kristen that is amazing and you are so lucky that the bronchiectasis stayed mild and didnt spread around...amazing FEV 1

. Melissa 75 ...thats how my bronchiectasis was and about 10 yrs ago got bad infections from some weird bordettella bacteria ...(cousin to the bordettella that causes whooping cough) and it spread to all lobes and the dialation got worse....I still hover around 96% to 100 %...but 10 yrs ago was 126ish....

I find the discomfort from all the bronchiectasis so unbearable and wearing a bra is evn more uncomfortable....alot of chest tightness ....my dr. has other patients with bronchiectais worse than mine but she says they dont seem to complain about discomfort like I do..

do yous or anyone for that matter have alot of discomfort from the bronchiectais...

thanks Liz...and I cant believe no one else has the bordettla hinzii /avium bacteria...it is very rare just wondered what Ivs people were taking for them...my first dr.s in 2002 ish thot it was going to be a transient bacteria as I always had pseudomonas...and it would be gone....

I had a ct scan a little over a year ago and it showed mild/moderate bronchiectasis in both lungs and primarliy in the upper lobes. My fev1 is in the upper 80's. My doc said most cf'ers probably have at least mild bronchiectasis but it may not have been diagnosed depending on what testing they have had.

Hi,

My FEV1 is pretty good, usually somewhere between 87-92%. I have mild bronchiectasis in my right middle and lower lobes and in the lingula. I have had many infections and 7 years ago got a really bad one which included a collapsed right middle lobe. After that I was diagnosed with bronchiectasis, and at the time had a FEV1 of 76%.

Until I started nebulizing hypertonic saline I had almost constant chest discomfort, even though I don't generate much mucus. The hypertonic saline has really changed my life in that regard. Unless an exacerbation is starting, I don't usually have the chest discomfort any more.

Hope you find something that helps.

By the way, I have bronch but not CF.
