I stopped burning candles when DS was diagnosed. He was a newborn at the time and didn't want to risk any additional problems. On a side note, I have a coworker who has all white carpet and the soot from the candles she burned actually stained her carpets near her forced air vents, so her husband has banned her from using candles anymore as she had to have her carpets professionaly cleaned. Never dawned on me that burning candles on a regular basis would cause that kind of damage or show that much soot.
Now that he's older and doesn't seem to have issues with scented products, perfumes, I will use lysol spray or burn a candle in the kitchen area during the day -- usually over the noon hour when he's not around.
Some people are sensitive to scents, so it might be a good idea to hold off using them. I know when I walk into Bed Bath and Beyond I can hardly STAND it, nor can I stand going to a certain relative's home who uses a TON of those plug in scents. Gives me a raging headache! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
