So I notice a lot of threads about cycles and stuff and see my
period was always hit and miss and then it stopped never to return
and I just figured it was because I was so skinny. Am i the
only one not having a period? I have to say I was not
entirely bummed but now I'm thinking maybe this was stranger than I
thought? Just curious.....

When I reached a point of say below 95 lbs. mine stopped completely. Docs said I didn't have enough weight to support it.
Whenever I was over 94-95 pounds they started up again, irregular at first but regular over time.

I have gone a few months without periods during really bad times with my health & weight. Weight loss & antibiotics knock me for a loop!

No your not alone, I haven't had a period in about 2 years or more, I dont even remember my last natural period. I had a period in August 2005 but that was only bc it was pill induced. My last hospital stay they checked my hormone levels and its low, so I guess thats why I dont get periods anymore. My CF doc thinks its because I am so malnurished I am 104 and 5'7. I dunno. Atleast you/I aren't alone!

I've also heard it has much to do with nutritional status. I would check with your doc. I think stress can also cause this.

I'm very regular. I get it the same day-every month. But i'm on birth control and in most cases that helps to make you regular.

I had stopped having my period for a couple of years a while back (a couple of irregular periods here and there), and only got the usual suggestions that have been mentioned here - stress, weight...one doctor told me I should feel lucky! What a jerk!

I was not on BC any of this time, and was finally diagosed about 3 years later with prolactinoma. What this is, is a decrease in the prolactin level in your body (it makes your body think its preg, and can cause additional systems of nipple discharge, sore boobs, headache. For me, there was swelling in my brain around the pituitary stem, not allowing the prolactin to leave.

The test is simple - ask for a blood test to check your prolactin levels.
The treatment is very simple - a pill once a week.

I guess it's not that uncommon in women. I'm not saying this is true for anyone with an irregular or absent period, but it's worth the test.

Thanks, I'm guessing I'm right it's my weight because I don't think
I have near the amount of body fat mentioned required. I'm 93lbs
and 5'1. At any rate thanks for your posts...just good to
know I'm not all out there by myself.
