We live in North Carolina and are just beginning to see the H1N1 rear its ugly head here. How is this affecting CFers in other places. Any deaths? This is scary...

Was really bad in the city a couple months ago when we were there. I was a little nervous about going to the museum & mall with DS and was constantly using hand sanitizer. And there were several kids in isolation at the hospital because of it.

His doctor did give us a prescription to have tamiflu on hand just in case there were issues where we live. Makes me a little edgy with all the media buzz about it,. I just make sure to wash/sanitize hands more often. Try to avoid sick people -- especially the clinic Around here they're warning healthy people to try to avoid the clinic for routine appointments during cold and flu season.

in my country we had had a lot of this H1N1. It is not as bad as the typicall flu, the problem is that it is to easy to catch it, even thou the only way to do it is by direct contact.
the english trust for cystic fibrosis wrote a good paper about h1n1.

Yes, we're in the middle of the flu season. It's hard to tell if you have the swine flu or some other flu. I've had something for about three weeks, dont know what it is, could be a flu, could be a cold, could be H1N1.My kids have had a flu and we thought my oldest son may have had the H1n1, but he didnt. They got over it and didint go to hospital.

There's a problem with testing for it. By the time you get the results it's too late anyhow. I wouldnt rely on the Tamiflu either, based on the other post on htis site concerning that.

The real problem is that everyone has the flu this year. The H1N1 is especially contactable, I've decided there is no way to avoid it.

On the good side, there is hand cleaning stuff everywhere and messages telling people to wash their hands etc.

We have had 100 people die here so far, most have had underlying illness. I dont know of any cfer's having it any worse then anyone else, although a few have been hospitalised here at our centre.

I think that it is no different to the normal flu, do the same things you have always done. People are more aware of speading germs at work and school, so that's a bonus we could use every year! The biggest problem I can see (having almost passed through the winter here), is the fact that no one has any immunity to it, so you're more likely to come in contact with it.

From what I've seen, cfer's havent been any worse affected then usual
