Hair loss!!

So I spent 6 weeks in the hospital this summer and was bombarded with meds, steriods, dialysis, etc. (you can read older posts on my blog www.kellibelieves.com if you want.)

Well now my hair is falling out by the handfuls. I'm not kidding I shed like crazy. I had about 5 inches cut off my hair to see if that would help, now I'm shedding shorter hair.

I go to the dermo on the 21st of this month. Any suggestions until then? And is this normal? I don't want any medication to help it (due to previous kidney failure) but I'm afraid I'm going to go bald since I have super fine hair anyway.

Once my health got back on track, meds calmed down etc it went away.

In the meantime I just tried to eat & drink as healthy as possible.......

I also was very careful about what I did to my hair. No perms, hair coloring, minimal curling iron & blow drying etc.

I had the same problem with hair loss a while ago (I also have super thin, fine hair). My doctor said it was because my thyroid level was low so now I take synthroid. And eventually my hair grew back. But I had alot of short hairs all over my head so it kinda looked wierd sometimes (since my hair is shoulder length). I bet yours will grow back too.

Same here: I went to the Derm and she said I had Female patterned Baldness. It isn't real bad baldness and is probably related to stress and meds and such but she reccomended the " Rogaine" . I haven't tried it yet and I would ok it with your doctor, but maybe you can ask the Dermatologist if Rogaine is a possiblility for encourageing hair growth. I know it does have side effects of hair growth , like facial hair but it goes away when you stop doing the Rogaine. Im not worried about that.

Good Luck and my guess is if it isn't hereditary baldness that it will settle down eventually.

I haven't tried it yet and I would ok it with your doctor, but maybe you can ask the Dermatologist if Rogaine is a possiblility for encourageing hair growth. I know it does have side effects of hair growth , like facial hair but it goes away when you stop doing the Rogaine. Im not worried about that.
