I just wanted to take a moment to wish all my fellow CF moms a Happy Mother's Day. I think its a pretty important day to remember us today.
CF came into our lives in our adulthood and quite by surprise. We all went about starting our families and somewhere along the line we held a baby in our arms who one day would be diagnosed with CF. Most of us didn't stand in line and raise our hands shouting "OH pick me pick me, I'd like the kid with CF." (those that actually did this through adoption have an even higher level of respect in my opinion). We were just handed this CF life. We weren't expecting it, we certainly aren't happy about it, but we do the best we can. We do the best we can as we navigate our life through hours of treatments, pills, appointments, insurance claims, and co-pays. In addition, we find the time to research as much as we can, to learn about new meds, to consider putting our young kids into risky research studies, to fundraise and we come here to find support.
You are all amazing moms. I feel very lucky to have gotten to know you. And while I never wish to welcome a new mom into this world or onto this site, I am proud to be a part of the process to help ease their way.
Happy Mother's Day all.
