Has anyone had silent aspiration?

We are in the hospital now with pnemonia and the doctors believe it might be silent aspiration, we are doing a bronchial scrape first to see if its from germs, but my instinct is telling me it's probably silent aspiration because her reflux is so bad. Has anybody had this or know what it is? Has anybody hd a g-tube or know how it works. I'm pretty concerned and I don't know who to reach out to right now. Little Ellie has been doing so well so far but I feel like once everything is headed uphill we get knocked back again. I'm feel so scared all the time and I know I need to be strong for my little girl. Anything would help.

Thank you all

I'm soo sorry to hear that Ellie has pneumonia, Sarah. Hospitalizations really cut straight through to a mother's heart. (((HUGS)). I don't know about silent aspiration, but Alyssa has silent reflux. I can't answer your questions but I just wanted to offer some cyber support, I now how hard the hospital can be.

My daughter has had a g-tube since she was about 8 months old, she's now 2. They normally start with something called a peg tube, it's long and kinda annoyingf. Then they move onto something called a mickey button, it's pretty small and the most common 9there are other types of button and we actually have an amt mini capsule non-ballon). G-tubes are really easy to get used to. I'd really recommend checking out parent-2-parent.com as they have a tube feeding forum with a great deal of information there. on both silent reflux/gerd/aspiration and of course tube feeding. good luck!
