Have you tried the Frequencer?

An RT told me about the Frequencer because I don't tolerate the Vest or manual CPT very well. I have a shoulder injury, herniated disc and judging by my wavy spine, scoliosis too.
I've got to say the Frequencer looks like a bunch of hooey. Anyone have any first or secondhand experience?

My 5 year old has been wearing the VEST for an hour daily for the last 4 years. He is getting sick of it so we thought we would try the Frequencer. He LOVES it. The studies compare it to manual CPT and say it is just as good. Do i know for sure? No. So we do the VEST in the am and the Frequencer in the pm. We are tryng to get our insurance to cover it. You can do a trial with it and see what you think if you contact the company.

It's not hooey, although some CFers might not like it. It definitely makes me cough, and I actually get out more than I did with the Vest (about equal to a nice session of manual CPT). It doesn't feel as "intense" as other forms b/c you're not physically shaking, but it does make you cough when done correctly -- at least in my experience.

I wrote a very lengthy review with an explanation of how the machine makes me feel, why it works for me, etc, on my blog (<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://amatteroflifeandbreath.blogspot.com)">http://amatteroflifeandbreath.blogspot.com)</a> -- search the term "frequencer" or choose it from the topic options on the left sidebar.

My insurance covered the machine no problem, but I know some people have had issues.

yes I did the 2 week trial. there are things i like and don't like about it. i ended up sticking with my vest for now. i will say that it made me cough. but i do prefer the huff-cough technique with the vest.
this unit is not hands free. so if you neb while you do the frequencer, as i do during the vest, you can't do anything else-like i'm typing right now..<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
that may seem trivial, but i know my personality and that would drive me nuts.
the other reason i didn't get it is that there haven't been studies on it used during pregnancy. and sound waves with pregnancy-i don't know i didn't feel ready to make that decision if i were to get pregnant again.
what i did like about it is that you can isolate specific areas of your lungs and focus on that. you really have the control in your pt. i love that its quiet-completely quiet. its pretty amazing.
its definitely not hooey. at the last cf conference this was the hot item. we will def be seeing this in our clinics more.

i think it comes down to preference. whatever is going to get you to do your therapy-go for it. if you hate the vest, do this or do manual.
as a side note, the people with the frequencer and the dealer were very nice and helpful. they took care of getting me the trial unit, with no problem. they'd be happy to do a free trial for anyone who's curious i'm sure.
