Hello and a question

Hello all!

I have lurked here for awhile after hearing about "cf.com" from my facebook buddies, finally broke down and signed up! I'm a 19 year old cfer, I was diagnosed late by most standards but I've been dealing with related issues for years. Nice to "meet" you all, you seem like a great bunch.

As for my question - when I test my glucose I usually have to prick myself at least 4 or 5 times just to get enough blood to fill the test strip. I now test on my forearm because it's a little better there than on the fingertips and less sensitive, but I was wondering if any of you have the same problem?

Hello and welcome!

Let me ask, where are you pricking your finger? I personally have never really had this problem (only once in a while if I needed to change the lancet or something), but I do tend to bleed more if I poke the side of my finger rather than the direct tip. It hurts a lot less there, too, and doesn't bruise as easily. Try poking on the side, next to your nail. I usually use my ring and pinky fingers - rarely my index finger as that tends to hurt me too much, too often - also. Good luck!

Thanks for the response and the warm welcome! I have tried all over my fingers, well the sides like you're supposed to, and I can squeeze and squeeze and I get nothin'! It just hurts! I get about the same amount on my forearms but it's considerably less painful, I just have bruised/red arms from all of the pricks, LOL. It doesn't bother me much but it does get to be frustrating.
