Good evening well I just put Ashton to bed and thought well I havent been on here in FOREVER so I would update plus get some much needed advice!!!
Ashton overall is doing really well he has a nagging cough and constant runny nose but thats it.. The doc at our last clinic visit said they were going to size him for the vest in September, Which i think is awesome because he fights us and wont lay in the positions intended for CPT.. My 6 year old abbi (w/o cf) is doing good as well she just had her tonsils and adenoids removed 2 weeks ago and you would have never known she had surgery not even on the day we came home..
Now for my question Ashton is not wanting to take his oral meds at all he spits them back out.. He will take his Vits and Iron in his sippy cup but his prevacid and ursodiol he will spit back at you no matter what any recommendations would be wonderful... I think that is the only question that I had so that must mean everything is going overall good..... I hop everyone else is doing fairly good if not excellent!! talk to everyone later!!

Hi Christi, glad things are going well. You will love the vest, my daughter got hers at 15 months and it has made PT so much easier. As for the meds, ugh, that's so frustrating. Are you opening them into applesauce, or do you have liquid drops? Our prevacid is a lot like the enzymes, so I just open the capsule and pour it in her mouth and then I give her the vitamax (which she LOVES) and she washed down all the little beads. We have lots of issues when she's on antibiotics or steroids, and have had to give her little bit by little bit, holding her down and shooting it with a medicine syringe into her cheek. Its not fun, but MOST of the meds go down.

I have no experience with any of those meds u mentioned, other than prevacid. my son is 2 and the capsules were not happening. so they gave him the dissolvable prevacid. he still tries to wipe it off his tongue so i try to catch him with his mouth wide open and get it on the back of his tongue. my son is still on regular vitamins, and when he began to refuse them we switched to gummy vitamins. the only down side, he loves them so much i have to keep regular gummy bears ready to give him after the vitabear...lol. good luck.

Is Ashton using prevacid solutabs? They dissolve in the mouth. My son started using it when he was around 8 months old and they have worked well. The pharmacist can put in flavoring in the ursidiol. Also our pediatricians nurse told me to put some chocolate syrup into any liquid med my kids won't take. It works!
My daughter got her vest at 14 months. I know what you mean when they won't cooperate. We all LOVE the vest.
