Okay so I thought that I would post this in the forum's section rather than in my blog hoping to get more answers. Mason just turned 9 years old and has had his g button for about 3 years. We have to fight him at every meal. We make something and he doesn't want it, like it whatever. We give him the choice to decide on something else b/c I know that he needs to eat. He is picky and not at all really interested in eating.
When I talked to the dietician about 2 months ago she said to make one dinner that offers at least one thing that each Tucker and Mason like. She said to allow them to eat and little or as much as they want of the one item that they like and that's it. She said to no make 2-3 different meals a night for him. She said that he was getting all of his vitamins, nutriants, and the majority of his daily calorie intake in his milk feedings at night so not to push the food issue too much.
We keep track of their weights at home every couple of weeks to see that they are gaining and he doesn't seem to be. We go back to Pulmonary in about a month of so and I am worried that he is not going to have gained. We have changed the formula to make it higher calories but I am just worried. I need to know how to you make them eat? My husband and I always tell him that if he doesn't eat that he will have to have 1-2 cans of his milk for his g button. I hate to have to threaten him with this but he just doesn't have as much energy as he used to. He gets sleep and he still seems to be tired. I know it is b/c he is not eating enough. I know this is kind of long, but please help...
