Can anyone give me a little help learning what I need to help educate the school on cf since i am new to all of this. What does my son need to make things easier for him in school? His school is currently under construction right now. The construction happens to be right next to his classroom their adding on to the school. What should they do for him if this becomes a problem, dust and ect. They they get a n air purifer for the class. I'm completely lost. We are having a meeting on Monday To discuss what he will need and what will make things easier for him. Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed. Thanks in advance

My mom just made sure my teachers always knew what CF was, and what symptoms I specifically had the most trouble with. I was often seated near the door so if I had to get up and go to the bathroom without asking, I was allowed. I was allowed to get water if I needed it without asking. I was allowed to sit out during recess or gym if I needed to. I went to the nurse without asking. Basically all the other things the kids needed to ask for, because they were so commonplace for me, were allowed to me. Whatever your son needs, just tell the teachers. In my experience, they cooperate very well. Ask my mom, she probably remembers more of what was done for me when I was in elementary school.

Jenni, have you visited the www.cff.org website? They have a lot of information on how to help educate teachers and even things that you can print off to take into your childrens teachers. They also have information about how to contact your local CF chapter, and they might be able to give you more information that is specific to your area.

Best of luck,

Julie
