Deb doesn't have a computer right now, and my google search didn't help much, but do any of you know much about "<b>left main bronchial stenosis</b>"? That is the dx that Debs doctor gave her about Cheyenne today. The results of the bronch apparently showed that she had this condition, and he said it was rare in children, and that a stent would not be an option for her. He also told her that the only option was a lung tx but it wasn't time for that yet...

She was kind of in shock and doesn't understand what all he said to her. Do any of you know any more info? Google didn't have much for me other than definition...

Thanks and please keep them in your prayers.

Stenosis refers to a narrowing of a passage, be it vascular or in the airway. Much like arteriostenosis in the heart due to plaque buildup on the arterial wall, bronchial stenosis is a narrowing of the bronchus (in her case the left). Usually a lesion or granulation tissue (or both) will build up causing the narrowing, however this is usually managed with stents, so perhaps there is some other cause since the doc said stents were not an option. The term "bronchial stenosis" is a broad term like "chest pain." There is more to the story, specifically what's causing the stenosis. Without that information, not much more can be said. A complete diagnosis would be "bronchial stenosis secondary to (insert cause here)."
