I've noticed in most of the threads regarding hemoptysis, that it had occured while in bed.
It has me asking whether it would only occur at home in the evening, early in the morning or late at night. Or, whether it's possible to have it happen at work, or say, even on the train (for those of us who commute by train) while on the way to work in the morning, or on the way home from work in the evening.
I've got this feeling of anxiety whenever I cough hard because that was when the hemoptysis followed. Just wondering if the time of day, or when the body is at a lateral position that the hemoptysis starts.

Most of my bleeds are in the evening....bedtime specifically. This isnt the ONLY time, but the most frequent. I guess its the strain of the lungs laying down that pushes the bleeds at that time.

Being a woman tho it can vary for me......

Im going out on a limb here Fred with my thinking.... I would imagine if you have a dilated weakened blood vessel anything that puts pressure on it, couging , laying down, leaning over, might cause a break and a bleed. With my un-diagnosed fungus ball i was having bleeds almost every time i would cough hard and long. One morning i woke up at 6 am and coughed like mad and the bleed started, i had an embolization a few days later and in that cat scan is when they saw the fungus ball. Now that i am on antifungals, the bleeding has lessened a lot Thank GOD !
Are you on Vit. K ? You also can try L-Lysine 500 mg. 3 times per day ( 4 times per day if you are having streaks) That has been a help to me also. I talked to my Dr. and my Pharmacist about the L-Lysine, and they both told me the doseage isnt harmful since the body uses what it needs and expels the rest. Anxiety after a bleed is very normal and i know the feeling that you cant help wondering if it will all happen again. You could always ask for a cat scan( with contrast) of your lungs. If there are large dilated blood vessels that may become a potential problem ( massive bleed) they can fix that. (Better to get it fixed before it happens.) They may find that you dont have any large dilated problem areas in your blood vessels and that would at least give you peace of mind.
