My cousins' son 7yrs 30lbs been tested for the mutation my sons' have that is the only mutation the dr would test for. "Cause family can only have one mutation". They live in a tiny town dr never worked w/cf before. anyway she was just told that his father's 2 other youger kids have cf. So now they should have more then enough reason to test him for all they can. The dr. has given him some extra stuff nebs vitamins. BUT NO ENZYMES! I've been pushing her along givin all the cf tips I can but till he is on a cf reg I cant do more. They live 2 hrs away from a cf center and dr will not refer him. I am so happy and freaked and where the h*** did this jerk get off not telling her he has known for 5 yrs that his other kids had cf. This boy is so sick all the time. So mad So so mad.

Do they need an actual referral for insurance purposes? If not then I would have them contact a CF center directly. Maybe even contact a CF center & explain whats happening. Maybe the center has away to work around the insurance referral if its the issue.

Gosh that is so frustrating!!! I'm sorry to hear that he's likely to have CF, but hopefully some care will make him feel much better. Boy seems like he has a lovely pair of ill informed people around him.

Maybe the cf center can at least give them the name of a pediatrician/family practioner who will refer them if they need a referal. The clinic's social worker may be able to help, too. I hope they get everything sorted out soon!
