Hi !my name is heather...im 15 and i was diagnosed with cf at birth. i really havent had it all that bad compared to some of the other people with cf that i have met,.i just had a port put in. i love it so far, but they messed up the surgery and i had a chest tube put in, and pnuemonia and collapsed lung and internal bleeding and fluid collection. joy. lol. but yeah i have had my gal bladder taken out and three intestonal operations. i take all the enzymes and vest and tobi and polmozyme. but it seems that the older i get the worse it becomes. i just got out of the hospital after being in there a whole month. but i mean when i was little i went in the hospital for a tune up every five years and that was factastic. but anyway....i would love it if somebody would email me or something if they wanted to talk. my email is bulldog043@juno.com. it would be great to talk to somebody who knows sort of where i am comming from. well id love to here from u. thanks!!

TextDear Heather, My name is Haley and I have just found out in the last hour that my 2 year old nephew has CF.It is quite a shock. I really don't know that much about CF. I decided to go to the net to find out more information on this. I can't say I understand about what you are going through but I can say I will be praying for you. My sister lives in Navare, Florida and right now I just wish I could be with her. I live in Lancaster, SC. It sounds like your spirits are up. I have a 14 year old son. Justin will be 15 on July 2.I have a daughter, Lacy, who will be 14 October 2. Are you involved in a youth group at a church? I sure hope so because I know if either of my kids were diagnosed with a disease they would have so much support. If you can please pray for Michael (that's my 2 yr old nephew), also for his Mom who doesn't know what to expect right now. Take care.Love In Christ,Haley Booher

Dear Heather, I'm in a similar place. I am 20. I was diagnosed when I was six months and I've had a pretty healthy life, considering that I have CF. Much like you when I was younger I didn't go to the hospital much but, when I turned 12 it got worse and than when I turned 16 it got even worse and last year I was in the hospital five different times. That was a total bumer. If I can give you any advise It would be not to listen to the statistics. According to the normal paitient with CF that's how it is but, I've decided to not let it happen to me. I know there is not much you can do to stop the physical things from happening to you but, you don't let those things affect your spirit. I see it "getting worse" as something that I knew was going to happen and I need to keep going on with my life. I know it seems super optimistic. Just try it you will be suprised because even when I was really sick I was still happy because I made sure that I was surrounding myself with happy people. I hope this makes sense. You can email me at vivamoz2@hotmail.com I would love to hear from you.Stephanie from Texas
