I know this is a little late, but just wanted to mention that the Geminid meteor shower is tonight. I was out for a few minutes and saw 1. I will probably be going out in a couple of hours to watch for awhile. I love to watch these things. I think it's just amazing to watch (that is when they don't actually crash into Earth). It says the best time to see them is starting around 9:00 and throughout the night. Enjoy!!

i read this last night and didn't have time to post because i had my camera in hand and was out the door lol. Unfortunatly the clouds started rolling in soon after (around 9:30pm et). thanks for the heads up. I love things like this, but never really look into them much.

Hi Ben. Sorry you missed it. I went back out about 9:00 and I did see a handful. Then I went back out again about 11:45 or so. I saw several. Total, I'd say I probably saw 20-25. It was awesome. The clouds started rolling in here too a little after midnight. My husband doesn't really get into it like I do and doesn't usually like to go outside with me, which sucks because I'm too chicken to stand outside by myself for an extended period of time. But he did go out with me for a little bit last night. Supposedly, you can still see some for a day or two after the peak night but to a lesser degree. So maybe you still have a shot a seeing some!

it has been cloudy, no luck here. I used to sit outside with my parents when i was younger and look at the stars, and things all the time. A good meteor shower is awsome. Where are you from? you ever get to see the northern lights?

Sorry you didn't get to see any. I think there is supposed to be another meteor shower in January but it's not going to be as good as the Geminid shower.

I'm from Illinois, USA. I, unfortunately, have never seen the Northern Lights, but I would LOVE to. I've seen hundreds of pictures, but that's just not the same thing as seeing the real deal. My problem is that I hate traveling (I get too nervous), so I have never been close enough to see them. Are you in an area where you get to see them? Maybe one of these days I'll get to.

i get to see them a couple times a year, but they aren't as bright as they are up north in canada, or Alaska. Still a great site to see. the best ones i have seen were two years ago. the sky was flashing green, and it actually woke me up. I jumped out of bed, and told my wife i was going for a drive lol. the green light would kind of roll, and flash from the north horizon tward the south. tall pillars of green were dancing in the sky. It was great. i am hoping to see some this winter.

That's sounds like a beautiful sight. I think that green is the more common color if I remember right. It would be neat to see the other colors too (reds & blues). Sounds awesome!
