Hi Latesh
I'm not sure what is available in India, but if she could get access to high calorie drinks such as " Ensure" or " Carnation" that can help. Also,we have different strengths of enzyme tablets in Canada, maybe she isn't taking enough to digest properly. For example, I take 4-5 ECS-8's with meals, but my brother who also has CF, needs to take ECS-20's. I'm not sure if this info is of any help to you, hope she is doing ok.

Responding on how to gain weight...my son has CF and his diet is the complete opposite of what the CF docs tell him to eat. He has always followed a low fat (almost no fat) diet. He does not consume any enzymes and is rather healthy and of a 'normal' weight. He tried the high-fat, enzyme routine and became sick and constipated. The docs then recommended laxatives.....the endless cycle of drugs again!!!! We go against their advice which does not please them, but our results and his well-being speak for themselves. It is worth a try. His diet consists of a lot of whole grains, lowfat dairy products, tofu, vegetables (lots!) and fruits. He eats fish, some poultry and very little red meat. By the way, he stays away from white flour and sugary foods.

hi lateish17 how does she take her creon i find if i take my creon throughout the meal for example 1tab then some grub another tab and so on helps me this spreeds the creon prehapes mixes better also your stoumch acid can effect lower the creons strength etc. she is young so her metabolism is likely to be part responsible. just some facts protein has 4cals a gram, carbs has 4 cals per gram, and fats have nearly9 cals per gram. she dnt need to eat bad fats such as hydrogenated but ask your nutricianist! consume other fats those easier digested and healthy2.if you need i can look over my old college books, i done my deploma in nutricain management. but rusty on some elements at mo!
best wishes cj
